On the final day of Cardigan, we had our last hours of exploring the woods before going home. First thing in the morning, I woke up and packed while helping my bunk mates pack. We all took our gear to the trailer after we had all finished. Since we had finished early, we went to have hot cocoa to help ourselves wake up. For breakfast, I had eggs and vegetarian sausage. Once my whole group was ready to go, we went to Duke’s Meadow to do a compass course. We saw a giant Lion’s Mane mushroom at one of the stops and some of us tasted it. We also ate some Wild Cucumbers, too. At the last stop, we went up a ski hill to see a rusted car and sketched it. We started heading back down about 15-20 minutes later to have lunch. During lunch, we all said something we like about the person on our left. Soon after, we played a few rounds of camouflage before we left. On the way back, we also played some more rounds of camouflage. Throughout the day, we saw and crossed many bridges. When we got back outside the lodge we had to fill out a survey asking some questions about us. I was the last in my group to finish, and I had to run to the bus. It was sad to watch the AMC lodge built so many generations ago slowly disappear from sight. The ride home seemed longer than the ride there for some reason, and I will never figure out why. The only bad thing about it was I had to use the bathroom the whole ride home. Luckily, I survived though. For the final day at Cardigan, we explored more of the woods while we had time and then went home as changed people.
